Almost 150 students from 16 schools united at Pembroke on Friday for our inaugural Respectful Relationships Student Symposium. This event was envisioned by Pembroke students to create cultural change in schools.

17 March 2025

Students listened intently, asked thought-provoking questions and collaborated in workshops, learning steps they can take to break down stereotypes and create a cultural shift for the better.

The day concluded with calls to action for schools, and we outlined the vital work we are committed to in developing our Gender Equity Plan.

We are so proud of and thankful to all symposium delegates – in particular our incredible student leaders – and we cannot wait to see how they continue to make meaningful change together.

A heartfelt thank you to our inspiring guest speakers:

  • Jana Gomes – Sexuality Educator, and Education Officer at the Legal Services Commission
  • Daniel Principe – Youth advocate and educator
  • Dr Amber Halliday (1996) – World Champion & Olympic athlete, coach, advocate and old scholar
  • Ben Brown – Champion AFL player, AFLW coach and social advocate
